We are only one day away of the opening ceremony of the 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Račice, Czech Republic. The opening ceremony will take place this Wednesday at 19:00 in Labe Arena Račice.
Czech Republic will turn into Canoe Sprint capital untill Sunday as the venue of 2017 Senior Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships will host this year's ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships. Around 700 competitors in junior and U23 age groups will fight for the medals between Thursday and Sunday, some of them are medallists of previous junior and U23 Championships as well as paddlers with experiences from senior European and World Championships.
Representatives of 35 European countries are expected to compete in Czech Republic: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine.
The first races are scheduled for Thursday when the 1000 and 500 metres heats are on the programme. On Friday we will follow 1000 and 500 metres semifinals and 200 metres heats. The first sets of medals will be awarded on Saturday for 1000 metres finals. In the afternoon part of the programme 200 metres semifinals will follow. On Sunday the championships will conclude with 500 and 200 metres finals.
